Once in the glass spray bottle i added 20 drops of lemongrass essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil. swirled it around and used it all in my chicken coop. it smelled delicious and i could see bugs running to get out of the chicken coop lol. it was really strong, but in a good way.. I sweep the floor and then i spray down the entire coop including all of the roosting poles, the nesting boxes as well as the floors and the ceiling and walls. i allow the coop to air dry and then i put in fresh bedding and shavings. by mid to late afternoon, the coop is ready for the gals to return.. Chicken coop drunken herbal spray. may 09, 2015. once you bring chickens to homestead be it urban or rural you'll quickly learn about a special symbiotic relationship; what goes in must come out.. Treat the coop. spray down your coop with eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, peppermint, basil, and cinnamon bark essential oils. all of these essential oils have been proven to have anti-parasitic effects when used topically. you can make this spray by placing 45 drops of each oil into a 16 oz. glass water bottle..
